Introduction

The format is a one of documentary that last for 47:45 minutes therefore they are no seasons and no episodes. The documentary is in English with French subtitles. The people that are in the documentary have been selected specifically for it, when being interviewed to share their stories about their life experiences as black people.  In this documentary, they are a set of footages of street manifestations and conferences. It takes place in different areas of America but Seattle is a part that is highlighted due to the level of black issues there. The purpose of this documentary is educational and informative because it highlights the issue of racism and more specifically, how black people can be treated very badly in some countries. Black Lives Matters is a civil rights protest movement that stop the current problem of violence against black men and women. The platform for broadcast for this documentary can be found on you tube, top documentary films, on BBC World Service programmes and on imdb.

The audience targeted is young people, old people anyone really that is interested in this subject matter and like history, and political culture issues and want to contribute to support the black community. Different races are trying together to fight racism in the world for years and stop people from dying young because of a race reason. For example, in America lots of young people are getting killed because they are just black and the racism level in the US black community is very high because the police will just kill them for no specific reasons apart from being black.

The key techniques that have been used for this documentary are based on reportage and interviews.

Reportage: the purpose of reportage is to report and bring up news, information about a specific topic.

Interviews: the interview was based on a lady called Patrisse Cullors, she is the lady that is talking about the things that was going on at that moment of time. She was talking about what happened to her as well as other people stories. For example she speaks about a teenage boy who got assaulted. Then a young black man shared in an interview what happened to him when he has done nothing; he explains what happened that night the police stopped him and started to ask him questions when he was just going home. They pulled him over and told him to get in the back off the car. The purpose of having this young man talking about his experience was to show to the world how unfairly the police treat black people. Another example is at 22:36 minutes, about a young black man that was shot by police because when he was about to show them his driving licence, they assumed he was armed and shot him in his arm as a result he was bleeding heavily. Again, this is to demonstrate the injustice towards black people.

The narrative is a story which incorporates different stories. It has a linear structure because this documentary has a beginning, a middle and an end. The story line is to capture the complexities of black life and is talking how black people are being treated and interviewed black people talking about their stories, struggles and how they feel. It is powerful and some images are disturbing because it shows some real reportage scenes.

The documentary is objective because it is aiming at highlighting the assaults towards black race and the prime goal of this programme is to inform people about this ongoing problem and to sensitise the audience to hopefully make a difference in the future. Also the objective is to have a history record which help to see the changes over the years around this discrimination matter.

As a young black person, I have chosen this documentary because I am emotionally touched by the subject, I feel concerned about it and it triggers some anger because I find it very discriminating and unfair.

MY REVIEW ON GOTHAM (THE SERIES)

MY REVIEW ON GOTHAM (THE SERIES)
https://cdn.theatlantic.com/assets/media/img/mt/2015/12/BLM/lead_960.jpg?1450904446Gotham is a new take on the batman comic books showing a different approach to other mediums like the movies and animated series of the ‘Dark knight’ stories with the perspective of a young officer James Gordon instead in the dark and dangerous Gotham City with a life before the cape crusader. A darker and more modern themed experience which follows suit to the movies and character styles of the modern age animated series. The characters are not hard to distinguish with young cat women Selina Kyle calling herself cat and Edward Nygma ‘young code braking detective’ as The Riddler. This form of identification is OK but is watered down and under interesting as the theme doesn’t develop them better as most people watching the show are already fans of the DC universe and know it like the back of their hands so, this gives no thrill in finding the character’s information.

The show is consistent to the comic books and keeps all character information the same whilst giving them a new look that keeps us aware of who they are and what stage of development they are in. This showing of development is mostly important in characters like Bruce Wayne after his parents are murdered in front him, the butler becomes his legal guardian refused treatment for Bruce after his parents told Alfred ‘Bruce’s guardian butler’ in the event not to do so.

However, the show isn’t perfect with not so great story development and character backgrounds and over covered areas of information like their hobbies and interest which factor which don’t have nothing to with the show like ‘The Penguins eating habits and Bruce’s dark clothing and home’.

The show does however gives us good viewing material as unlike the movies and comic books the show is in more understandable feeling with almost now CGI in this show until later the shows airing. The show has many features wrong though like the feel to the show. For instance, for a in the flesh show the show gives of a very cartoony feeling in comparison with another show the Batman animated series which is supposed to be cartoony however it’s not with deep and disturbing matter like death and domestic violence with ‘this show is a masterpiece with amazing voice acting, incredible artwork and introduction of new characters like Harley Quin’ the show is a symbol of the once modern genre of cartoons and resins as one of if not the best representations of Batman With features like deep character story’s and amazing adaption to the big screen in the later made movie which surprised fans and non-fans alike
I give credit to the show as it gives a fairly decent backstory to characters like Oswald cobbelpot and Bruce Wayne but they were aiming to appeal to over-darkened audiences with themes like blatant homicide and family murders in the pilot episode alone which begs the question ‘Are tv show’s showing more events like murder and death appealing us as audiences to watch?’ and the answer is ‘maybe?’ as we transgress from more censored tv to a more open and brutal airing of once children based reading pleasures we forget that those children are now men and women and they are still enjoying the stories even after growing up.
The show was fair and decent and hopefully will become better in later instalments.

Roles in the Media industry

Freelance

What is freelancing?
A freelancer is someone who doesn’t work for one company full-time, but is hired by different companies for certain jobs they are self-employed and get hired a lot. For example, a magazine or website will have a core team of editors who hire freelance writers to write articles, or a TV production crew might hire freelance cameramen to work on one series of programmes and different kind of programs that is available for them and also they get to earn different kind of pays/wages for what they are willing to do.

What are the advantages of freelancing?Being a freelancer means you don’t have a boss telling you what to do so you can say ‘no’ to jobs you don’t want. You might also get to work at home for specific projects. As long as your work is delivered to the deadline most clients won’t mind how and when you do it – making freelancing a good option for people who don’t want to work normal office hours 9-5. However, the work hours can be long and also they don’t often stay working in one place for a long time.
Freelancers can negotiate their own rates with the companies who hire them. Companies are often prepared to pay freelancers a better rate than their own staff because they don’t have to pay for things like sick leave as part of the contract. The more experience you have then the more money you can ask for.

What are the disadvantages for freelancing?
There are many freelancers in the industry so it may be difficult to get your first job. A lot of people are trying to find jobs so it isn’t enough to just excel at being a freelancer they will know how to network, make contacts with potential clients so that people will know what you do. The workload can vary and be unpredictable as you don’t really know when you could get work and when there is no work.

This means that if there is no work then you will not get a regular paycheck per month. Also, you will also have to make the tax and insurance arrangements yourself. Which will require you to register yourself as ‘self-employed’ with Inland Revenue, who can give you some advice.
As you may not have a regular paycheck, you will need to keep some money saved up for bills and to maintain a good lifestyle especially when you’re sick. You might want a holiday any time you want, depending on if you can afford it as no-one will pay you for it.

Advantages & Disadvantages of cd and vinyl

Advantages & Disadvantages  of cd and vinyl

Disadvantages
  • Vinyl is harder to maintain than CDs, and should ideally be stored in temperature- and humidity-controlled environments. (However, air conditioning, perhaps with a dehumidifier, is almost always sufficient.) Mold can grow on vinyl and may permanently damage it and its sleeve, and can spread from record to record.
  • Vinyl is very easy to damage during playback. Any scraping of the surface can permanently compromise the sound quality.
  • Surface noise, while often inaudible, will always be present and measurable, even on a brand new LP.
  • The sound quality of a record cannot be determined until you play it, increasing the risk of the purchase. Even brand new, sealed LPs can have significant pressing and warping problems that may make it unusable for listening purposes.
  • Certain parameters of vinyl recording and playback - notably, the vertical tracking angle (VTA) and the stylus rake angle (SRA) - were never formally standardized, and vary considerably between records. Distortion from these effects is generally considered extremely audible and very difficult (if not impossible) to correct.
Advantages
It isn't the LPs that are better than the CDs, not at all. CDs are technically far superior to LPs for reproducing sound. It's the music that was on the LPs that's better than the music that is on CDs nowadays.

CDs can reproduce sounds within 3 times the dynamic range of a CD. With far less distortion, much lower and also higher frequencies.

The cover artwork and the listening and care that goes along with listening to the analogue medium is also important as was already mentioned.

You take the recording home and normalize it, which means just making it as loud as possible without adding distortion. You listen to the recording on your good stereo in the living room and are very satisfied.
